Turning 34

Happy Birthday to me!

Hello everyone!

Has it been 3 years since I last blogged??

Before penning this entry, I randomly read some of my old entries and I just continued clicking "next" and spent 1 hour reading what the past Jasmine wrote. My thoughts were "Wow! She has so much time to sit down and blog!", followed by "I really miss blogging but I am so mf lazy lah."

The world has changed in 2020. "The new normal" is the buzz phrase that we keep hearing. Wearing a mask in public, social distancing, work from home, countries borders shutdown, no overseas holidays... This is the worst pandemic in living history because the whole world is affected. We have weathered through SARS, H1N1, MERS, Bird Flu, Mad Cow Disease, blah blah.. but nothing comes close to Covid-19. It has changed the world in so many ways, good and bad. I am just looking forward to travelling again. My last overseas trip was a impromptu 3D2N trip to Batam with Tabby back in February to visit Welly & Santi. It was our first time travelling overseas together.. little did we know, that will also be our last overseas trip for 2020.

I planned a 3 weeks Shanghai/Japan trip with Le hubby in April. We were supposed to go to Shanghai for 4 nights to visit my friends & go to Shanghai Disneyland, then fly to Japan and chase the Sakura. It would have been our 1st ever Sakura trip to Japan as we usually visit during Summer/Winter times. It took me a long time to plan the trip and I was devastated when we had to cancel it because the borders were shutting due to Covid-19.

There's a lot of holiday trips that I did not blog about (but you can check them out on my Instagram). I get overwhelmed when there are too many things to post about and I just give up on wanting to blog. Back then when I was more actively posting online, my attention was split between Blogspot, Dayre, Instagram & Facebook. I am not cut out to be an influencer because I don't have the energy to dedicate so much time and effort to post about my life, especially on different social media platforms. (Also got nobody interested in my life lah! LOLOL!).

Ever since Instagram introduced Instastories.. it's damn good cos it's easy to upload and I don't have to feel stressed about writing a witty or interesting caption to go with it. I always say I post on Instastories for my "fans".. and I am using the term "fans" loosely because they mostly comprise of my friends who somehow love me enough to want to know what I am up to everyday. If I don't post in a few days, my top "fans" like Tabby will message me and ask why no updates. Hahahaha! She's not so naggy at me now because we meet every week ever since she moved back from Perth to Singapore last year.

Anyway..... it's my birthday today!

Because of Covid-19, all of us are stuck in Singapore with no place to travel too... so staycations are the new holidays!

Last week I went to Andaz Singapore for a 1 night staycation with my colleague turned good friend/sister Cecilia. After that I went to Raffles Hotel for a 5 nights staycation with Le hubby. It was fabulous!!!! Ever since my 1st stay in Raffles Hotel last year for my birthday, I fell in love with the hotel and since then all our special occasions were celebrated there! Because of social distancing, I cannot have a party with more than 5 people, so I had to split up into different small groups throughout my stay. It was a good thing also because I can spend quality time with each group of friends.

Till my next entry!

Happy Birthday to me!

Thank you Le hubby for the birthday flowers!
⌒゚(❀>◞౪◟<)゚⌒

Birthday card that he did not write. LOL!

Lunch at my favourite hotpot place! Jpot! :)

It's my birthday but I am accompanying him to watch a music performance which I am not even familiar with. Hahahahahaha!

So many people!!!

The merchandise are so expensive lah!
And so fast sold out!

Waiting to go in!

I bought a tshirt for him.
See.. I already said it's my birthday but it's like his special day.

Overall I enjoyed the show. Even as a non-Final Fantasy fan, it was not boring because the music was really nice and I actually found 1 or 2 of them familiar!

Borrowed Mama Chew's vase to put my flowers!! :)

What we ate in Hong Kong!

From the moment we arrived, it's been non-stop eat eat eat eat. I love Chinese food, so I really enjoy the food in Hong Kong. My top favourites are the porridge, condensed milk butter bun and dim sum!

Below are photos of the restaurants/cafes that we visited in Hong Kong during our few days there! :)

Miffy x Dim Sum Icon (Hong Kong)

When in Hong Kong, you must eat dim sum! Actually there are a lot of good dim sums in Hong Kong, ranging from the dingy hole in the wall cafes where the waitress will yell at you in Cantonese if you take too long to order, to those super atas hotel restaurants where everything is plated so nicely and you pay big money for small portions. Hahahahahaha!

We went to Dim Sum Icon because they are having a collaboration with Miffy! Obviously the dim sum is not going to be fantastic and the prices are confirmed gonna be higher than usual.... but... MIFFY! Miffy is my sister's favourite character. She loves it as much as I love Hello Kitty. Wany said we must go and have Miffy Dim Sum on behalf of my sister. (‐^▽^‐)

Glad to have lunch here also cos the aircon is super strong in this shopping mall and the weather is super duper hot outside.

The cafe is located at "THE ONE" Shopping Mall. 100 Nathan Road Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon. In between Tsim Sha Tsui and Jordan MTR station.

They have a few rules which I find quite annoying. (¬_¬)
  1. Compulsory Tea Condiments charge of HKD10 per person
  2. Minimum order of HKD50 per person
  3. Dining time 60mins during "busy hours"

The wait staff is also not friendly one. Giving that kind of attitude like you owe them money... which I don't like cos HELLO!! We paying so much for mediocre dim sum, at least treat us cordially can? No need to be over friendly but don't give us that kind of face lah.

At least we managed to score a booth seat near the windows where there's nice lighting and it's quieter than sitting inside the main dining area.

Miffy decals on the windows!
ヾ(〃^∇^)ノ♪

Super cute paper place mat with the carrot chopsticks holder!

The menu!

SO CUTE!!! (‐^▽^‐)

Salted Egg Yolk Buns

#proofthatWanyeatveggies

Super cute lah.. But not nice to eat. Hahahahaha!

I ordered a mini watermelon drink cos the weather was sooooo hot.

These are namecards of the cafe! So cute!

We ordered 4 food items & 2 drinks and it's almost SGD50 already. OMG. Just HKD17 more to get the free gift.. but we peeked at it and it's some cheapo cardboard coaster so we decided to skip it.

Based on the ratings I gave the food, obviously it is not good. But it is cute and I think all Miffy fans should visit it. If you are not a fan, then skip this... take your money and go to the hole in the wall cafe for authentic dim sum. Just smile and nod when the waitress yell at you. LOL!
