LEGO Singapore Office Tour!

Had a chance to visit the Singapore's Lego office today! Really lucky cos they don't open up their office to the public to visit. They are located in the same building as my office.

We got lucky because my company and their company had an arrangement for a small group of staff to visit each other's offices! I heard that the Lego staff love our office cos we have free flow beer and red wine.. but we love their office because it is so fun!!!

We got a visitor pass that we can keep! Each one has a different design!

They are having a world wide celebration on 31Aug2017 with the other Lego offices for their 85th anniversary!

This is their pantry area! There's Singapore flags because of National Day.

The wall of fame is really cool because whenever a new staff joins, they get to customise their own lego figurine and put it on the wall!! So all the figurines on the wall represents the Singapore employees!

One of the really cool features of this office is no one has a fixed desk. Not even the head of the Singapore office. It is an open concept so you can work from anywhere in the office. You don't even need to be in the office and can work from home (depending on job scope) or from another country! And since they don't have a fixed desk, they have lockers to put their belongings so they don't need to lug their stationery/misc stuff back home everytime they go to the office. 

The door of the lockers can be customized with chalk drawings and they can also display their Lego creations here. Super cool! We were walking pass the lockers and 1 particular locker caught my eye..

There are 2 levels so we took the stairs up to the upper floor.

The whole place is sooo quiet and there's hardly anyone around.

We got to play with Legos after the tour! We formed the words "EXPEDIA" with Legos and put it on their display shelf. Hahahahah! 

We also got to make and keep our own Lego duck!

Before we left, we were also given a minifigure as a souvenier! They are sooo nice to us! :) I got the Shark one which was what I wanted!! Yay! So lucky!

It was a really fun opportunity to tour Lego's office! I hope I can visit the Facebook office (which is located in the same building) one day. I heard it is really cool too!

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 Open House!

Really excited about the new Terminal 4 in Changi Airport! It will officially be opened to the public on 31October this year, however they are having a free open house from 07-20August and you have to pre-register your interest on their website. They only gave out 200,000 tickets and they were quickly snapped up!

I managed to get 2 tickets for myself and Le hubby! The weekend slots were full so I took a weekday afternoon slot. I had to apply for half day annual leave but it was worth it! :)

T4 was built on the land that used to be the Budget Terminal which was demolished 5 years ago. I have never been to the budget terminal when it was around, but I heard it was quite bad. Not the kind of image that Singapore Changi Airport is famous for. Luckily they decided to demolish it and change it to T4 instead. T4 was completed within 3 years, which is super amazing because it's such a big building. They managed to build it so quickly because of pre-cast and off-site fabricated building components. Something like lego blocks.

T4 occuipies about 225,000 square meters, which is about the size of 27 football fields. It is only about half the size of Terminal 3 but has a capacity of 2/3! Talk about space efficiency!! And T4 will be able to handle 16 millions passengers a year, which is a huge number!

The amazing part about T4 is that it will have a lot of self-service processes called FAST (fast and seamless travel). You can check-in, print your boarding pass & luggage tag, drop off your baggage.. all by yourself using the computers! 

I really like the automated bag drop! Really cool!

Even the departure immigration and boarding of the plane are automated! This will really bring up the efficiency and speed of check-in (if the computers don't break down).

We sat there for a while just admiring it. Le hubby says this is "worth the ticket price" because the screen must have cost a lot.

This is the highlight of the tour for me. The graphics is amazingly real! If you have the time, stay here for a while and watch the entire show. It's quite a cheesy love story, but I really love the graphics!

You can sit on these funky chairs while watching the show. Haha!

 A CUPLO IN T4??!!!?!? Do people even know it's a Cuplo??!??!?!?!! I really wanted to steal this. It's my dream to own a Cuplo art piece. I very nearly empty my bank account for a painting... but decided that food is more important. :'(

Unfortunately there is no skytrain access to T4 yet so you have to take a shuttle bus if you are connecting to another flight in another terminal.

Currently the airlines that are flying out of T4 are:

4. Indonesia Air Asia
5. Korean Air
6. Philippines Air Asia
7. Spring Airlines
8. Thai AirAsia
9. Vietnam Airlines

The destinations that I usually fly to are operated by Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Japan Airlines & ANA.. so I don't think I will have a chance to fly out of T4 anytime soon. Even if I were to go to Hong Kong I will fly with SQ cos CX has a bad reputation of flight delays recently.  So I am glad to have a chance to tour T4 with Le hubby!

Expedia Singapore Office

It's been a month since I started work at Expedia! Things has been going great and I really enjoy going to work everyday!! Wheeeee!

The office is located at South Beach Tower just across Suntec City and span across 3 different floors with the main floor at level 9 where the reception desk is.

o(*>ω<*)o Really really nice office right? I am hoping to do an office tour of other companies who are also located in the same building as us. Facebook is on level 22 and Lego is on level 13! I heard their offices are also very cool and maybe I can have a chance to go and see one day!! Fingers crossed! 

First day of work today!

Today is my 1st day at Expedia! ೭੧(❛▿❛✿)੭೨ 

Really excited to be starting a full time job after a break of almost 9 months! I have been doing some small sideline businesses but it is good to have a stable job with a fixed monthly income! I can still do my postcard and party planning business on weekends. 

I am starting work together with 3 other newcomers and they seem like really nice people! The training will be for 2 weeks so I have to absorb as much as possible, especially since the team is using a different reservation system than my previous workplaces. 

It will be like learning a new language. ( ⚆ _ ⚆ ) Plus my brain seems to be a bit rusty so I need to really focus to get back into the groove!

Our trainer is from Scotland and she flew in specially to train us! It is her first time in Singapore so we are going to bring her out for lunch everyday to try local Singapore food! 

Expedia is an awesome company to work for because there are so many employee benefits and the office is so beautiful! We spent some time going through our employee benefits on the company's portal today and was so impressed with the staff welfare here. We also went on a tour around the office and this is by far the best office I have ever worked in! I will blog about the office again when I have more pictures!

There's a few direct buses I can take to the office and most importantly.. got seats cos my bus stop is the first few stops!! No need to stand! OMG! It is like winning a lottery.. being able to sit down while travelling during peak hours. Hahahahahaha! I totally don't miss taking the train to work cos it is so squeezy! Most of the times I couldn't even get on the train and when I can, I have to squeeze with other people. Squeezing is fine since everyone is getting to work... but there are those people with long hair who don't blowdry their hair! Imagine dripping wet hair on your clothes... 

[○･｀Д´･○] OMG I WANT TO USE SCISSORS AND CUT OFF THEIR HAIR!

And don't get me started on those people who don't bath in the morning and/or has bad body odour. Please lahhhhh.. take a shower in the morning can? And USE DEODARANT!!! So yes, very happy to be able to go to work by bus and avoiding the peak hour commutes on the trains. Heh heh heh!

Our training is from 8.30am-5.30pm every day and our trainer promised that she will let us off early if we are able to complete all the exercises on time.

Looking forward to completing our training and joining the team full-time!
