Pompompurin Cafe Singapore [Last Day!]

Today is the last day of operations for Pompompurin Cafe at Orchard Central. Since we've never visited before, we decided to go before they are closed for good. Wanted to jio Nat along too but he had to work until 5pm... so it's just 3 of us today!

The first time I saw a Pompompurin cafe was in Tokyo Harajuku during my Japan trip with Wany a few years ago... We even went early to take a queue number so we can go in. However after waiting for a few hours we decided to leave even though it would have been our turn to go in soon, because I was having a fever and wanted to go back to the hotel to sleep. That trip was quite bad cos I fell sick early in the trip and took me a while before I recovered. Poor Wany had to go shopping on her own cos I was knocked out and sleeping in the hotel.

There were 4 different seating areas. The nicest ones are the booth seats but there were only 4 booths and the couple in front of us got the last booth. ( ͒˃̩̩⌂˂̩̩ ͒) So sad lah... So we requested for our 2nd choice which is the one at the back with the Pompompurin cushion seats. Luckily there was a table available there!

Before we placed our orders, I asked the waitress what are the gifts available cos I saw on their Facebook page that they will be handing out free gifts to their customers during the last 10 days before they close for good. The waitress said there's glass mugs, water bottles and soap dispenser.. unfortunately when we paid our bill, only the glass cups were left.

If your dish includes a glass mug, you will receive an extra one. The pancake dish I ordered had a special design for the Pompompurin mug but the mug I received at the counter is the plain one. Kuakuakua.

The manager who was processing our bill was a grouchy bitch who did not smile at all. I asked her about the gifts and she just rudely told me only cups left. With that tone and attitude like "Take it or leave it."... Whattttt...... I am a very friendly and polite person so I don't think there's any reason why people have to be rude to me.

Wany said maybe she is going to be out of a job so she can't be bothered with customer service at all. I think that is really unprofessional. Whether the manager was upset or angry with the management has nothing to do with the customers! As a customer service staff, you need to be professional at all times and not let your emotions or feelings get in the way of your work. If you cannot be professional about it then you should consider working in a job where you don't have to face any customers.

<(`^´)> So angry.

Anyway... the total bill for 2 mains, 1 drink & 1 dessert is $71.75 inclusive of GST and service fee. We didn't order a lot cos Le hubby and I had a heavy brunch earlier. What we ordered is a typical order for 2 persons if they are sharing the drink and dessert. It is quite expensive, but it is a Sanrio themed cafe after all.

If it is not closing down today, will I go back again?

Hmmm... It depends. I am not a big Pompompurin fan. I am more of a Hello Kitty fan, though I also like Cinnamoroll and Gudetama. Paying $70+ for cute food which doesn't taste very good (the rice is tasteless and soooo hard!)... I think I rather spend the money on good hawker centre food... LOL! Maybe I am old already.. plus I have been to Japan so many times that it is getting harder and harder to wow me cos in Japan everything is done to perfection.

Overall I would say it was a good experience today though (other than that bitchy manager). It's a pity the cafe is closing down.. I think Singapore's market is too small to sustain a permament themed cafe. A pop up cafe will be more ideal cos you can always change the theme according to what's the latest trends. Just like what THE GUEST cafe & diner in Tokyo is doing.

Century Square Closing for Renovations!

We heard the news that Century Square will be closing down for a complete makeover and reopening in quarter 2 of next year, so we had to go and take some pictures before they close on 01 September!

I spent a lot of time in Century Square during my younger days.. back when I was in Primary school, my mother will bring me and my siblings there for Sushi Tei (which is a big treat), go to Metro to buy toys (mostly for my brother), watch movies at Shaw cinema and my favourite part of the mall is the ARCADE! I spend so much money there I think I can actually buy 1 or 2 of their machines. LOL!

I also have a lot of fond memories in this mall.. spending time there when I was a student, going on movie dates with my friends.. I am really gonna miss this mall. Thank you for the 2 decades of memories!

LEGO Singapore Office Tour!

Had a chance to visit the Singapore's Lego office today! Really lucky cos they don't open up their office to the public to visit. They are located in the same building as my office.

We got lucky because my company and their company had an arrangement for a small group of staff to visit each other's offices! I heard that the Lego staff love our office cos we have free flow beer and red wine.. but we love their office because it is so fun!!!

We got a visitor pass that we can keep! Each one has a different design!

This is the layout of the office!
We are at the blue zone where the Lego figurine is.

The entire world map is made of Lego bricks! Wow!

This is so old school!

o(*^▽^*)o

Singapore Skyline made from legos!

There are free postcards you can take! :)

They are having a world wide celebration on 31Aug2017 with the other Lego offices for their 85th anniversary!

This is their pantry area! There's Singapore flags because of National Day.

The wall of fame is really cool because whenever a new staff joins, they get to customise their own lego figurine and put it on the wall!! So all the figurines on the wall represents the Singapore employees!

Selfie time!!

This is their huddle area where they will meet & share ideas.

OMG the shelf is full of limited edition models!

Took this picture to show Le hubby. Hahahah!

Disney castle!!!!!!!!!

One of the really cool features of this office is no one has a fixed desk. Not even the head of the Singapore office. It is an open concept so you can work from anywhere in the office. You don't even need to be in the office and can work from home (depending on job scope) or from another country! And since they don't have a fixed desk, they have lockers to put their belongings so they don't need to lug their stationery/misc stuff back home everytime they go to the office.

The door of the lockers can be customized with chalk drawings and they can also display their Lego creations here. Super cool! We were walking pass the lockers and 1 particular locker caught my eye..

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!
(ノ。≧◇≦)ノ

Super big boardroom!

There are 2 levels so we took the stairs up to the upper floor.

The whole place is sooo quiet and there's hardly anyone around.

We got to play with Legos after the tour! We formed the words "EXPEDIA" with Legos and put it on their display shelf. Hahahahah!

We also got to make and keep our own Lego duck!

Before we left, we were also given a minifigure as a souvenier! They are sooo nice to us! :) I got the Shark one which was what I wanted!! Yay! So lucky!

It was a really fun opportunity to tour Lego's office! I hope I can visit the Facebook office (which is located in the same building) one day. I heard it is really cool too!
