Jane, Cecilia and I went to Bangkok for 3 days 2 nights in October 2019. We flew on Friday evening and came back on Sunday afternoon. It was a super packed but fun trip!
Ok... this entry is extremely back-dated! But better late than never because I want to document it down as it probably won't happen again ever because Jane has a baby boy now and we are all busy with our own lives now.
Thinking back, 2019 was the year that I travelled the most in my entire life. I went for an overseas trip literally every month and visited many new places which I have not been before.. which was a good thing because 2020, 2021 and probably 2022 will be years where I cannot leave the country because of Covid-19 restrictions.
After landing in Bangkok at around 10pm, we went to check-in our hotel and left our luggage there and went for supper!
We stayed at the W Bangkok! It is a very hip hotel and when we checked in, there was a disco party going on in the lobby with super loud boom boomz music. LOL!
I seldom go to Bangkok so I left the itinerary planning to the other 2 girls. My only request is to go to Jeh O Chula for supper because I really wanted to try the Tom Yum Mama Mee. The queue there is as long as Hai Di Lao, so I bought a coupon on Klook for a set meal with fast track service! When we arrived there around 11pm, the waiting time was 2 hours but we got our table within 10-15mins!

This is the dish that I really wanted to try! It is super yums! Would have been better if it was served with a warmer cos I prefer super hot food. Heh heh!
There was this super friendly guy selling ice-cream outside the shop. We ordered ice-cream from him while waiting for our Grab driver to come. He handmade all the ice cream and it is really affordable and yummy!
Yum yum!
Birthday surprise in the room!
Jane & Cecilia requested for birthday amenities for me!
We went to ICON SIAM which was a new shopping mall! Omg I super love it cos the air-conditioning is damn strong and there's everything in the mall! A indoor floating market with super yummy mango sticky rice, Japanese supermarket (quite overpriced though), lots of local food/snacks/clothing. We spent almost half a day just walking around, shopping and eating our way through the mall.
One of the must visit place for Cecilia was After You Cafe which is famous for their Shibuya thick toast. She loved it so much, we went 2 times during the trip! It is quite nice but a bit overpriced.
Most of the time were spent eating & shopping. Well, what else can you do in Bangkok? Hahahahahaha! I just tagged along and followed them around because they visit Bangkok more often than me (my last visit was probably in 2013 with Le Hubby for his work) and I am not as familiar with it as Japan. We went to the usual popular places like Big C, CentralWorld, Siam Paragon, etc. Thankfully they did not want to go to Chatuchak (open air, no air con!) or Platinum Mall (too crowded). I realized we also never go to any night markets during the evening except for Saturday night where we went to Yaowarat (Chinatown).
