Petopia Charity Screening & Porn's Thai Food

Last week I received a call from Marcus (Petopia) asking me if I was interested to attend a charity screening on 1st November.

Unfortunately he kept calling me while I was driving.. like 3 times! It was so scary.. the moment I drive off from the carpark, the phone will ring, or when I'm driving home from work.. the phone will ring. T_T" And it will be either Marcus or his business partner, Richard.

Damn kua kua kua.

Initially I wanted to ask Wany along with me, but she has exams on 2nd November. Than I thought of my sister, but the movie is M18 rated. Sighs.

Here we are in the taxi.. which had chewing gum on the seat that I did not realized until I found my skirt riding upwards and sticking to my shorts!!!!

Wah! Unglam to the max sia!!

Anyway, I collected the tickets on Sunday at the Petopia outlet at Jalan Kelulut.. which is super near my workplace, just a 4min drive down Yio Chu Kang Road.

We cabbed down from home and the taxi uncle damn funny!! He cheonged all the way there and past the ERP gantry at 5.59pm and whooped with joy cos if it's 6pm, the ERP charge is $3 instead of $1.50 so he helped us save $1.50!

LOL!

The total fare was $8.80, but Pipimon gave him $10 and the Uncle was so happy. :) A good turn deserve another, so instead of letting the government earn the money, we rather give it to the nice uncle. ^^

We went upstairs to Level 4 and collected our goody bags at the reception.

Than we went to another area for the vegan buffet dinner. There were only 3 dishes, but they taste surprisingly good! The beehoon is very moist and I love the cereal-dunno-what it is. Pipimon said they should have labelled the food. =.=

There's a booth by ACRES selling some trinkets and also showing info on animal abuse.

Waiting to enter the cinema~

There's a short presentation by Richard & Marcus, and also a rep from ACRES. They have a new initiative called the C.C.C (Companion Care Card) and I think it's a fantastic idea! It actually provides new owners of adopted animals a starter kit of food, free medical check-up, free full grooming etc. It's a great great idea and I think it's gonna help a lot of stray animals! I mean, it may not seem much.. but most people are afraid to adopt an animal as they do not have enough information or do not know how to go about the adoption nor introduce the pet into their family. Google can only help you to a certain extent. So with this initiative, they can have proper guidelines on how to take care of their pet and also know who and where to go for help and advice!

When I worked in the pet shop few years back, new owners always come in blur-blur one and their first priority is to buy toys and treats instead of focusing on the food or anti-tick solutions, etc. So it's good to educate these 1st time owners and also provide them with freebies to entice them to learn! :)

Anyway the movie was quite gory with scenes of violence and senseless killing of poor innocent animals. I saw several women walking out crying cos they couldn't bear the blood and gore. I was tearing a bit cos it is so sad to see the poor cow's throat being slitted and the esophagus being pulled out and drowning in it's own blood. *shudders*

Richard, Pipimon, Me & Marcus (Owners of Petopia)

After the movie, they interviewed me (live camera!) asking me what I feel about the C.C.C and the movie. Wah so stressed.. talk without script sia! Hopefully they have a good take and I did not let them down. Hahahahahaha!

Here are the items in the goody bag!

Very generous cos the items are not cheap! :) But I find the Nutripe a bit creepy.. Sheep's stomach. =.=

After the movie and interview, it was already 9.30pm so we walked over to Liang Seah Street to see if there are any places to have our late dinner and we spotted Porn's.

Yaya went there before and said that the food is not bad, but I read on HGW.com and it says the food is mediocre.. So we decided to go and try for ourselves.

The place closes at 10pm, but they will allow us to sit till 10.30pm.. So we placed our orders and waited for our food.

I was sitting near the entrance of the shop where there is a very beautiful and colourful wall mural. Hmm.. good idea!! Maybe I can do something like this in my study room next time.. But instead of elephants.. I will draw Hello Kitties! :) And maybe DOMOs!! Hahahaa! That will be dammn cool!

That's Pornsak in the background. He is the owner and his mum is the executive chef. You can also spot the waitress leaning on the table on the right side of the picture, discussing stuff in the magazine -- this is a behaviour which me and Pipimon really detests. It is one of our major pet peeve at the restaurants. It reflects badly on the professionalism and bad training of the staff. The sad thing is, the boss actually condoned it and he even joined in the conversation.

I believe firmly that any personal things should be discussed after work or behind in the kitchen where customers cannot see or hear you.. especially if the discussion is more than a few minutes.

Tsk.

Anyways, we ordered the Basil Minced Chicken, Seafood fried rice and the Tom Yum soup with chicken.

I was very disappointed with the Basil Minced Chicken cos it's S$8.50 without rice! Such a small plate of chicken for S$8.50+?? Tsk. Damn bad. How much is rice? And the irritating thing is the waitress did not inform me that the dish did not come with rice, so when she served it.. I was like "Huh? Did they forget the rice?" only to find out it's additional order (S$1) for one serving of rice.

Tsk.
And when the bill came, they charged us 2 servings of rice instead of 1. Thankfully I always check my bills before I pay.. How dare they wanna cheat me of S$1!

Don't tell me it's a honest mistake. If they spent less time yakking and more time to brush up on their attentiveness and service, the place will be more successful.

Currently it's just a hype cos the owner is a "celebrity artiste". If you ask my honest opinion, you can get better food outside at lower prices and better service.

OIE. Once is enough.
